At KathalTech, we believe engineering innovation should be open, collaborative, and rewarding.
Every day, hardware developers, robotics enthusiasts, students, and hobbyists spend countless hours designing embedded systems, IoT modules, robotics hardware, and custom circuits. Often, these incredible projects remain locked away in personal repositories or short-lived social media clips.
We are excited to introduce the KathalTech Idea Hub Project Showcase & Royalty Program — a platform designed to feature your open-source hardware and software innovations while creating a reliable passive income stream for your engineering talent.
How It Works: Build, Document, Share & Earn
The concept is simple: You build and document; we supply and fulfill.
You Create: Build an awesome hardware or software project and publish the open-source code, schematics, build video, and GitHub documentation.
We Feature: We publish your project on the KathalTech Idea Hub, showcasing your profile, video, and complete technical breakdown.
Makers Build: Community members and makers discover your project on KathalTech and decide to build it themselves.
You Earn: Whenever a user purchases the complete component kit or individual parts for your project from the KathalTech store via your project page, you earn a direct royalty on the sale.
Royalty & Payout Structure
Royalty Rate: Creators earn 3% to 10% royalty on the net profit of all component kit sales directly driven by their project showcase page depending on the sales volume. We will give the creators access to a dedicated dashboard to monitor their engagements and sales and also processing payouts.
Automated Attribution: Every published project is assigned a unique creator ID linked to the "Buy Components Kit" button on KathalTech.
Real-Time Analytics: Access your KathalTech Creator Dashboard to track page views, component link clicks, kit orders, and total accrued earnings.
Monthly Payouts: Earnings accumulate monthly and are disbursed on the 10th of every month via your preferred local payment method (bKash, Nagad, or direct bank transfer). Minimum payout threshold: 1,000 BDT.
Submission Eligibility & Core Deliverables
To qualify for a featured slot on the KathalTech Idea Hub and enable royalty tracking, your submission must fulfill 4 core technical deliverables:
1. Public Open-Source GitHub Repository
Your code must be hosted on GitHub under an recognized open-source license (e.g., MIT, Apache 2.0, or GNU GPLv3).
Code must be clean, structured, and well-commented with explicit variable names and configurable setup parameters.
2. Comprehensive GitHub README.md
Your README serves as the primary manual for makers. It must include:
Project Overview: Clear explanation of what the project does, key features, and real-world utility.
Structured Bill of Materials (BOM): A clean Markdown table listing all microcontrollers, sensors, modules, passives, and power supply specs.
Setup & Flashing Manual: Step-by-step guide for compiling software, installing library dependencies, and uploading code (Arduino IDE, PlatformIO, ESP-IDF, Python, etc.).
High-Quality Visuals (Optional but Recommended): Photos of the assembled hardware, enclosure layout, or user interfaces.
3. Demonstration or Build Video
Provide a direct URL (YouTube, Vimeo, or Drive link) showing:
A full functional demonstration of the project operating in real-time.
A brief walkthrough of the circuit layout, key components, or assembly steps.
4. Clear Circuit Schematics & Pinouts
Provide clean, legible circuit diagrams created using tools like KiCad, EasyEDA, Fritzing, or high-resolution pinout vectors.
Schematics must clearly show power rails, logic voltage levels, ground connections, and external resistor/capacitor configurations.
Step-by-Step Submission Workflow
| Step | Phase | Action Required |
| 01 | Repository Push | Push code, circuit diagrams, and formatted README.md to a public GitHub repository under an open-source license. |
| 02 | Form Submission | Complete the KathalTech Creator Submission Form with your GitHub repo link, video URL, and payout details. This form will be available soon on our website. |
| 03 | Technical Review | The KathalTech engineering team validates code execution, wiring safety, and component availability in our store. |
| 04 | Store Integration | Approved builds are formatted into an Idea Hub showcase page with integrated, 1-click component kit checkout buttons. |
| 05 | Publish & Earn | Your project goes live! Share your project link across your social channels and start earning passive royalties on every kit sale. |
Official Rules & Platform Regulations
To maintain safety, fairness, and quality across the KathalTech Idea Hub, all creators must adhere to the following rules:
1. Intellectual Property & Licensing
Creator Ownership: You retain 100% intellectual property rights over your software and hardware designs.
Platform License: By submitting to the Idea Hub, you grant KathalTech a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, promote, host documentation, and package hardware component kits associated with your design.
2. Hardware Safety & Compliance
High-Voltage Restrictions: Projects involving unisolated mains AC power (>48V AC/DC) or hazardous chemical/laser exposure without safety isolation are strictly prohibited.
Safety Protocols: Mains-switched projects (e.g., home automation relays) must incorporate optocouplers, proper fuse protection, isolation slots, and prominent safety warning notices.
3. Component Availability & Substitutions
Component list items must correspond to parts available in KathalTech store stock or standard procurement channels.
If a specific non-critical component goes out of stock, KathalTech reserves the right to pair the project kit with an equivalent drop-in functional substitute (e.g., equivalent sensor module or board pinout).
4. Originality & Anti-Plagiarism Policy
Submissions must represent your original work or a documented, significant modification/enhancement of an existing open-source design (properly credited).
Submitting raw copy-paste code, plagiarized circuit diagrams, or unmodified third-party tutorials will result in immediate disqualification and a permanent ban from the KathalTech Creator Network.
