Overview
The 35mm Piezo Ceramic Element Sound Sensor is a raw piezoelectric disc that converts mechanical vibration and physical deformation into an electrical signal. It can be mounted directly onto surfaces where vibration, tapping, impact, or acoustic resonance needs to be detected.
With a 35mm diameter, approximately 10 ± 0.5kHz resonant frequency, and 8000pF ±30% static capacitance, this piezo element is suitable for a variety of sensing and audio-related applications. It can also be driven electrically to produce an audible tone, depending on the circuit design.
The element's thin, lightweight construction makes it useful for surface-mounted sensing applications such as contact microphones, electronic drum triggers, acoustic guitar pickups, stompboxes, and vibration detection systems.
Because this is a raw piezoelectric element, it does not include signal conditioning, amplification, or voltage-clamping circuitry. Appropriate protection and signal-conditioning components should be added when connecting it to sensitive microcontroller inputs.

Product Technical Information
Technical Details
The 35mm Piezo Ceramic Element is a passive piezoelectric transducer that generates an electrical signal when subjected to mechanical vibration, tapping, bending, or impact. It can therefore be used as a simple sound, vibration, or impact sensor.
The element consists of a ceramic piezoelectric layer mounted on a metal disc. When the disc is mechanically deflected, the piezoelectric material produces a corresponding voltage signal. Conversely, applying an appropriate electrical signal can cause the element to mechanically vibrate and produce an audible tone.

How It Works / How to Use
- Connect suitable lead wires to the piezo element's electrodes.
- Mount the disc securely on the surface where vibration or impact needs to be detected.
- Connect the sensor output to an appropriate signal-conditioning circuit.
- For microcontroller applications, use suitable resistor, clamping, filtering, or amplification circuitry before connecting it to an ADC input.
- Process the resulting voltage signal according to the requirements of the application.
Important Notes
- This is a raw, unshielded piezoelectric element, not a complete sensor module.
- Mechanical impacts can generate relatively high transient voltages. Do not connect the disc directly to sensitive 3.3V or 5V GPIO/ADC inputs without appropriate protection.
- A suitable signal-clamping and conditioning circuit should be used for microcontroller applications.
- Avoid excessive bending, flexing, crushing, or mechanical shock to the ceramic layer.
- Handle the element carefully, preferably by its outer edge.
- When soldering wires, use controlled heat and avoid prolonged heating of the ceramic and electrode areas.
- The stated 30Vp-p maximum should not be treated as a safe voltage for direct connection to a microcontroller input.
- Resonant frequency and electrical characteristics may vary within the stated tolerances.
- Product dimensions may have approximately 5% manual measurement deviation.
- Product images are for illustrative purposes and the actual product may vary slightly.
