How It Works
The INMP441 uses a MEMS microphone to convert sound into an electrical signal. The integrated signal-processing circuitry conditions the microphone signal and converts it into digital audio data.
The resulting audio is transmitted through the I2S interface, using the SCK, WS, and SD pins for clock, word-select, and serial data signals. The L/R pin determines whether the microphone outputs its audio data on the left or right channel.
Because the module provides digital audio directly, it can be integrated with compatible microcontrollers and processors for applications such as voice recognition, sound recording, audio analysis, and voice-controlled robotics.
