MAX30102 Heart Rate Pulse Oximeter Sensor Module – Blood Oxygen SpO2 & PPG Sensor
VAT inclusive; Computed calculations added locally.
Overview
The MAX30102 Heart Rate and Pulse Oximeter Sensor Module combines optical sensing components and signal-processing circuitry in a compact module for developing heart-rate and blood-oxygen monitoring systems. It uses red and infrared light to detect changes in reflected light associated with blood-volume variation.
The module communicates with a microcontroller through a standard I2C interface, making it convenient to integrate into Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, and other embedded projects. The onboard circuitry includes ambient-light cancellation to help reduce interference from surrounding light during measurements.
Its compact design makes the module suitable for wearable prototypes, finger-based sensors, fitness-monitoring experiments, educational projects, and IoT health-monitoring systems. Actual measurement quality depends on sensor placement, skin contact, movement, ambient light, software processing, calibration, and the overall hardware design.
Important: This development module should not be treated as a certified medical device or used as the sole basis for medical diagnosis or treatment.

Product Technical Information
Technical Details
The MAX30102 Sensor Module is designed for optical heart-rate and SpO2 sensing applications. The sensor contains red and infrared LEDs together with a photodetector and supporting circuitry. When placed appropriately against a finger, earlobe, or other suitable measurement location, the sensor can capture PPG signals for processing by a connected microcontroller.
The module's I2C communication interface simplifies connection to popular development platforms. Heart-rate and SpO2 algorithms can be implemented using suitable libraries and application software, allowing developers to display readings on an OLED/LCD, save data, transmit measurements wirelessly, or integrate them into an IoT monitoring system.
Because different breakout boards can use different regulators, pull-ups, and voltage-level circuitry, users should check the actual module markings before applying power. Do not assume that every MAX30102 breakout has identical power circuitry.
