Toggle Switch and Cover - Illuminated (Red)

The Toggle Switch and Cover  Illuminated (Red) is a practical switching component for low-voltage electronics and custom control systems. It combines a mechanical ON/OFF toggle with a built-in red LED indicator and a flip-style protective cover.

The switch uses three terminals for the switching contacts and LED circuit. This arrangement allows the indicator to be wired so that it illuminates continuously or only when the switch is activated, depending on the circuit connection. Its protective cover helps reduce accidental operation and automatically switches the toggle OFF when closed.

How to Use

1. Prepare a panel mounting hole of approximately 12mm.

2. Install the switch securely through the panel.

3. Identify the three terminals and their symbols before wiring.

4. Connect the switching terminals to the circuit you want to control.

5. Connect the LED anode to the positive supply through the appropriate terminal and the LED cathode to ground, following the terminal markings.

6. Apply a suitable 3–12V DC supply for the indicator according to the wiring arrangement.

7. Test the ON/OFF operation and LED indicator before closing the enclosure.

Indicator wiring options:

• To illuminate the LED only when the switch is ON, connect the supply to the switched positive terminal and ground to the LED ground terminal.

• To keep the LED illuminated independently of the switch position, connect the LED supply and ground to the designated indicator terminals.

Important Notes

• The product is designed for low-voltage applications up to 12V DC; do not assume it is suitable for mains voltage.

• Although some versions display a 20A rating, the Adafruit 3218 version recommends a practical switched-current limit of 1–2A. Use a suitable relay for higher-current loads.

• Check the terminal symbols carefully before connecting the power supply.

• Do not reverse LED polarity.

• The protective cover automatically switches the toggle OFF when closed.

• Spade connectors and connecting wires are not included in the referenced Adafruit version.

• Confirm the exact model's electrical rating before using it in a safety-critical circuit.
