Product Technical Information
Technical Details
The WS2812B 5V 16×16 Full-Color Programmable Soft LED Matrix Screen is a programmable RGB lighting panel designed for creating colorful displays and dynamic lighting effects. It contains 256 pixels arranged in a 16-row by 16-column matrix, allowing users to display patterns, icons, animations, pixel graphics, and other visual effects.
WS2812B-compatible LEDs integrate RGB lighting and digital control circuitry, enabling individual pixels to be controlled through a serial data connection. This reduces the need for separate control signals for every LED and makes the panel practical for microcontroller-based projects.
The flexible soft-screen construction makes it suitable for creative installations and projects where a conventional rigid LED panel may not be ideal. It can be programmed with compatible Arduino or ESP32 software libraries to create custom lighting sequences and interactive visual effects.

How to Use
Check the connections: Identify the 5V, GND, and data input terminals using the panel's markings or documentation.
Connect the power: Use a regulated 5V supply capable of providing enough current for the intended brightness and effects.
Connect the data line: Connect a compatible microcontroller's digital output to the matrix data input. Connect the controller ground to the matrix ground.
Check logic levels: If using a 3.3V controller such as an ESP32, use a suitable logic-level shifter if required for reliable data signaling.
Install a library: Use a compatible addressable LED library, such as FastLED or Adafruit NeoPixel, if supported by the panel.
Configure the matrix: Set the LED count to 256 and configure the pixel order and row/column layout according to the actual wiring.
Upload your program: Test simple colors first, then create animations, text, or custom pixel patterns.
Important Notes
The matrix operates from a 5V DC supply; do not connect it directly to a higher-voltage source.
A 16×16 panel contains 256 pixels, so power requirements can become significant when many LEDs are illuminated at high brightness.
For a conservative full-white maximum-current estimate, WS2812B-style pixels can draw up to approximately 60mA per pixel, depending on the specific LED design. For 256 pixels, that could approach 15.36A at 5V. Actual consumption varies with brightness, colors, and hardware revision.
Use an adequately rated power supply and suitable wiring. Do not draw high LED current through a microcontroller's power pin.
Connect the power supply ground and controller ground together.
Verify the matrix's data direction, wiring arrangement, and RGB color order before programming.
The soft screen may require careful handling; avoid sharp bends, stretching, or pressure on the LEDs and solder joints.
Confirm the actual panel dimensions and environmental protection rating with the supplied product specifications before installation.
