Overview

The 16X2 LCD Display Green with I2C Backpack 5V is a compact character display module designed for displaying text, numbers, sensor readings, menus, and other information in electronics projects. The display provides 16 characters across 2 lines with clear white text against a green backlight.

A pre-soldered I2C/IIC backpack significantly reduces the number of required microcontroller connections. Instead of using multiple parallel data and control lines, the module can be connected using just SDA, SCL, 5V, and GND. This makes it particularly useful for Arduino and other microcontroller projects where GPIO pins are limited.

The I2C backpack also includes a contrast adjustment potentiometer, allowing the display contrast to be adjusted according to the viewing conditions and power supply. Depending on the production version, the default I2C address may be 0x27 or 0x3F.

Product Technical Information

Technical Details

The 16X2 LCD Display Green with I2C Backpack 5V provides a simple and practical way to add text-based visual feedback to electronic projects. Its 16 × 2 character format can display two lines of information, making it suitable for sensor readings, status messages, menus, counters, measurements, and control interfaces.

The included I2C/IIC adapter board is already soldered to the LCD module. It allows communication through the SDA and SCL lines, reducing the number of digital I/O pins required compared with a conventional parallel-connected 16×2 LCD.

The module operates from 5V and includes an onboard potentiometer for adjusting display contrast. The default I2C address can be 0x27 or 0x3F, depending on the specific adapter-board version.

How It Works

The LCD uses a 16 × 2 character display format, allowing up to 16 characters to be shown on each of its two lines.

The attached I2C backpack converts the conventional LCD parallel interface into an I2C serial interface. The microcontroller communicates with the display through the SDA (Serial Data) and SCL (Serial Clock) lines, while 5V and GND provide power.

The contrast potentiometer on the I2C adapter can be adjusted to obtain clear character visibility. If the display does not show characters correctly after connection, adjusting the contrast control may be necessary.

The I2C address should also be checked when programming the display. Depending on the version, the address may be 0x27 or 0x3F.

Important Notes

  • Use a suitable 5V power supply for the module.
  • Check the I2C address before programming, as the module may use 0x27 or 0x3F.
  • The contrast potentiometer may require adjustment before text becomes clearly visible.
  • Do not apply excessive pressure to the I2C daughter board on the back of the LCD.
  • Ensure that no external component or enclosure presses against the rear I2C adapter board during installation.
  • Product appearance and I2C adapter-board layout may vary slightly between production versions.
  • Please allow for minor dimensional variations due to manual measurement.
