Overview
Build connected projects that can communicate over traditional 2G cellular networks with the A6 Pro Serial GPRS GSM Module Core Development Board. Based on the Ai-Thinker A6 platform, the board supports quad-band GSM/GPRS operation across 850MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, and 1900MHz, making it suitable for SMS, voice communication, and low-bandwidth GPRS data applications.
The module is controlled through AT commands over UART and supports standard GSM 07.07/07.05 command sets along with Ai-Thinker extended commands. It can be integrated with Arduino-compatible boards, microcontrollers, embedded controllers, and other serial-enabled systems for remote communication and telemetry applications.
For practical projects, the development board provides a Micro SIM card holder, Micro USB power interface, 2.54mm pin headers, audio interfaces, and dual antenna connection options. The module can be used for remote sensor reporting, alarm notification, equipment monitoring, SMS-controlled systems, and GPRS-based data transmission.

Product Technical Information
Technical Details
The A6 Pro Serial GPRS GSM Module Core Development Board provides a convenient serial interface for adding GSM/GPRS connectivity to embedded electronics projects. The underlying A6 platform supports quad-band GSM/GPRS communication, SMS, voice calls, and GPRS data services.
The board includes an onboard power regulation section so the development board can be supplied within its specified input range. A Micro SIM socket provides cellular network access, while the SMA and IPX antenna interfaces provide flexibility when selecting an appropriate antenna configuration.
Communication is handled through UART using AT commands. The A6 platform supports standard GSM AT command families as well as Ai-Thinker extended commands, making it suitable for custom firmware and microcontroller-controlled communication systems.

How to Use
- Insert a compatible Micro SIM card with the required cellular service enabled.
- Connect a suitable GSM antenna to the SMA or IPX antenna interface.
- Provide the module with a stable power source within the specified 4.8–9V input range.
- Connect the controller's TX/RX lines to the corresponding UART RX/TX pins.
- Use appropriate 3.3V TTL logic for the serial communication interface.
- Open a serial terminal at the default 115200bps setting.
- Send AT commands to check module status and network registration.
- Configure SMS, voice, or GPRS functions according to the requirements of your application.
Important Notes
- This is a 2G GSM/GPRS module; local carrier support for 2G service should be verified before purchase.
- Cellular modules can draw substantial short-duration current during network registration and transmission. Use a stable power supply capable of handling the required peak current.
- Do not connect 5V UART signals directly to a 3.3V logic interface. Use an appropriate logic-level converter or voltage-divider arrangement where required.
- Always connect a suitable antenna before operating the cellular radio.
- Network availability depends on the SIM card, carrier, coverage, and local cellular infrastructure.
- GPRS is intended for relatively low-bandwidth data communication rather than modern high-speed mobile internet.
- The supplied antenna specifications may vary depending on the antenna version included with the product.
- Allow approximately 5% measurement deviation for manually measured dimensions.
- Product images are for illustration; PCB layout, connector details, and component markings may vary by production batch.
- This module is intended for DIY, development, and embedded applications and does not replace a certified finished cellular product.
