Overview

The TTP223 Touch Sensor Module uses capacitive touch detection to recognize a human finger without requiring a mechanical button. This makes it useful for electronic interfaces where a compact, wear-free touch input is preferred.

The module provides a simple VCC, GND, and OUT interface, allowing the touch state to be read directly by a compatible digital input. Depending on the board configuration, TTP223 modules can support momentary or toggle/latching behavior and active-high or active-low output modes.

With its small 15mm × 11mm form factor, the module is suitable for compact Arduino projects, touch-controlled lighting, smart-home interfaces, robotics, digital control panels, and educational electronics.

Product Technical Information

Technical Details

The TTP223 Touch Sensor Module is a single-channel capacitive touch input module based on the TTP223 touch detection IC. It is designed as an electronic alternative to traditional tactile switches and can detect a finger touch on its sensing area.

The module produces a digital signal that can be connected directly to a suitable microcontroller input. In the common default configuration, the output changes state when the sensing area is touched. Configuration pads on compatible versions can be used to select different output and switching behaviors.

Features

  • TTP223-based capacitive touch detection.
  • Compact 15mm × 11mm module.
  • Supports 3.3V–5.5V DC operation.
  • Simple digital output interface.
  • Easy VCC, GND, OUT connection.
  • No mechanical button contacts or moving switch mechanism.
  • Supports configurable active-high/active-low operation on compatible boards.
  • Supports momentary or toggle/latching modes depending on board configuration.
  • Suitable for Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, and other compatible controllers.

Applications

  • Touch-activated switches.
  • Arduino and microcontroller projects.
  • Smart home control panels.
  • Touch-controlled LED lighting.
  • Digital locks and access-control prototypes.
  • Robotics and automation projects.
  • Interactive electronic displays and panels.
  • DIY appliances and control interfaces.
  • Educational and STEM electronics projects.

How to Use

  1. Connect VCC to a suitable 3.3V–5.5V DC supply.
  2. Connect GND to the controller ground.
  3. Connect OUT to a compatible digital input pin.
  4. Power the module and allow it to initialize before touching the sensor.
  5. Touch the sensing area with a finger.
  6. Read the digital output from the connected microcontroller.
  7. If your board has configuration pads, configure the required output or toggle mode before installation.

Important Notes

  • Keep the sensing area away from strong electrical noise and unintended conductive objects.
  • Capacitive touch sensitivity can vary depending on the enclosure, PCB mounting, surrounding materials, wiring, and environmental conditions.
  • Different TTP223 module versions may have different jumper/pad layouts and default output behavior.
  • The module requires an appropriate DC supply within its specified voltage range.
  • Do not connect the OUT pin directly to a voltage higher than the connected controller's GPIO rating.
  • Allow the module to complete its initial stabilization after power-up before relying on touch detection. TTP223 implementations commonly include an initial stabilization period and automatic recalibration behavior.
  • This is a touch-input module, not a power switching device. Use a suitable transistor, MOSFET, relay, or driver when controlling higher-current loads.
  • Product appearance, PCB color, component placement, and configuration pads may vary depending on available stock.

Package Includes

  • 1 × TTP223 Touch Sensor Module
