TP5100 2A Lithium Battery Charger Module – 2S 8.4V / 1S 4.2V

The TP5100 2A Lithium Battery Charger Module is designed for charging rechargeable lithium-ion batteries in either single-cell 4.2V (1S) or two-cell 8.4V (2S) configurations. It provides a compact charging solution for portable and DIY electronic equipment.

The TP5100 uses a switching charging architecture with a 400kHz operating frequency, allowing the module to remain compact while supporting charging currents up to 2A under suitable conditions.

How to Use

1. Provide a suitable 5–18V DC input to the module.
2. Connect the lithium-ion battery to the correct battery terminals and polarity.
3. Select the appropriate 1S 4.2V or 2S 8.4V charging configuration before connecting the battery.
4. During charging, the charging-status LED indicates the charging state.
5. Disconnect the input supply or battery when servicing or modifying the circuit.

Important Notes

• Do not charge a 2-cell battery pack using the 4.2V configuration.
• For 2S lithium-ion batteries, the required full-charge voltage is 8.4V.
• For a single lithium-ion cell, the required full-charge voltage is 4.2V.
• Confirm the board's voltage configuration before connecting a battery.
• Use only compatible rechargeable lithium-ion cells/packs.
• Observe correct battery polarity.
• The stated 2A charging current depends on the board configuration, input supply, thermal conditions, and battery.
• Do not exceed the specified 20V maximum static input voltage.
• This module is a charger circuit, not a substitute for a complete battery management system where cell balancing or additional battery protection is required.
• Never leave lithium-ion batteries charging unattended in unsafe conditions.
• Keep the module and battery away from excessive heat, moisture, and short circuits.
