Product Technical Information
Technical Details
The 5mm Blue LED is a small, efficient light-emitting diode commonly used to provide visual feedback in electronic circuits. Its standard 5mm body makes it compatible with many breadboards, prototype boards, and through-hole PCB designs.
The LED can be used as a status indicator for power, signals, sensors, switches, and microcontroller outputs. It is also useful for decorative lighting and various DIY electronics projects.
When connecting the LED to a power source, an appropriate current-limiting resistor should normally be used to prevent excessive current from damaging the LED.

How It Works
An LED produces light when current flows through its semiconductor junction in the forward direction. The blue LED emits blue visible light when properly forward biased.
The LED should be connected with the correct polarity. In a typical circuit, a series resistor is used to limit the current flowing through the LED and protect it from excessive current.
Important Notes
- Always observe the correct LED polarity when connecting it to a circuit.
- Use an appropriate current-limiting resistor when powering the LED from a voltage source.
- Do not connect the LED directly to a power supply without suitable current limiting.
- Electrical characteristics such as forward voltage and brightness may vary depending on the specific LED batch.
- Product appearance and lens characteristics may vary slightly between production batches.
