Rain Drop Sensor Module for Arduino – Analog & Digital Output, 3.3V–5V Water Detection Sensor
VAT inclusive; Computed calculations added locally.
Overview
The Rain Drop Sensor Module is designed to detect water droplets and rainfall using a conductive sensing surface. When water bridges the tracks on the sensing plate, the electrical resistance changes, allowing the module to provide a corresponding sensor output.
It provides both AO analog output for reading changes in the sensed water condition and DO digital output for simple rain/no-rain detection. The digital output can be used with a microcontroller's GPIO, while the analog output can be connected to an analog input for more detailed monitoring.
With a compact 3.2cm × 1.4cm control PCB and a simple 4-pin interface, this module is convenient for Arduino projects, weather monitoring systems, automatic irrigation, rain alarms, water detection, and other DIY automation projects.

Product Technical Information
Technical Details
The Rain Drop Sensor Module is a simple and economical sensor for detecting raindrops, water presence, and changes in surface wetness. Its sensing plate detects changes in conductivity when water comes into contact with the exposed tracks.
The module offers two useful output modes. DO (Digital Output) provides a straightforward HIGH/LOW signal for applications where only rain detection is required. AO (Analog Output) provides a variable signal that can be read by an analog input to monitor changes in the amount of water detected.
Features
- Compact 3.2cm × 1.4cm control PCB.
- Operates from 3.3V to 5V DC.
- Provides both Analog (AO) and Digital (DO) outputs.
- Simple 4-pin interface: VCC, GND, DO, and AO.
- Suitable for Arduino and compatible microcontroller platforms.
- Useful for detecting raindrops and water presence.
- Compact design for DIY electronics and automation projects.
- Easy to connect and integrate into sensor-based systems.
Applications
- Rain detection systems.
- Arduino weather monitoring projects.
- Automatic irrigation systems.
- Rain alarms and notification systems.
- Water leakage detection.
- Automatic windshield wiper prototypes.
- Smart home and IoT projects.
- Outdoor automation and environmental monitoring.
- Educational electronics and STEM projects.
How to Use
- Connect VCC to a suitable 3.3V or 5V supply.
- Connect GND to the controller ground.
- Connect DO to a digital GPIO pin for simple rain/no-rain detection.
- Connect AO to an analog input when a variable sensor reading is required.
- Place the sensing plate where raindrops or water contact is expected.
- Read the corresponding digital or analog signal using your microcontroller.
- Keep the sensing surface clean for more consistent readings.
Important Notes
- The sensing plate detects water through changes in electrical conductivity, so readings can vary with water quality, contamination, and surface condition.
- The AO reading varies with the applied supply voltage, so measurements should be interpreted relative to the module's supply.
- The digital output is commonly LOW when rain/water is detected and HIGH when the sensing surface is dry, although the exact threshold depends on the module configuration.
- This is a basic rain/water detection sensor and should not be treated as a calibrated meteorological rainfall measurement instrument.
- Avoid prolonged immersion or unnecessary exposure to standing water.
- Keep the control electronics protected from rain and moisture.
- Clean and dry the sensing surface when necessary to maintain consistent operation.
- Product appearance and cable style may vary depending on available stock.
Package Includes
- 1 × Rain Drop Sensor Module
