Soil NPK Sensor Agricultural – RS485 Nitrogen Phosphorus Potassium Sensor - NPK 3-in-1 Sensor
VAT inclusive; Computed calculations added locally.
Overview
Monitor essential soil nutrients with the Soil NPK Sensor Agricultural, a digital sensor designed to measure nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium in soil. The sensor uses an RS485 communication interface, making it suitable for integration with microcontrollers, PLCs, automation systems, and agricultural monitoring platforms.
The stainless-steel probe is designed for insertion into soil and is described as resistant to electrolysis, salt, and alkaline corrosion. Its sealed housing provides protection for outdoor and agricultural environments, while the 1.2-meter cable offers flexibility when positioning the sensor and control electronics.
An important consideration is that the sensor requires calibration before its readings should be used as reliable soil nutrient measurements. Reference NPK values obtained from an appropriate soil-testing method can be used to configure the sensor through its RS485 interface. This makes proper calibration an essential part of deploying the sensor for agricultural monitoring.
With a stated measurement range of 0–199 mg/kg, selectable baud rates of 2400, 4800, and 9600 bps, and a wide 5–24V DC supply range, this sensor can be used in a variety of soil-monitoring and smart agriculture projects.

Calibration and Usage
The sensor should not be treated as a ready-to-use laboratory reference instrument without calibration. Soil characteristics can affect nutrient measurements, so calibration is required before relying on the readings.
For applications requiring meaningful NPK measurements, reference soil samples should first be tested using an appropriate standardized or laboratory method. The resulting nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium values can then be used as calibration references through the sensor's RS485 communication interface.
For Arduino or ESP32 projects, an appropriate RS485 transceiver/interface is required to communicate with the sensor. The exact communication protocol and register configuration should be confirmed from the sensor documentation before software integration.
Important Notes
- Calibration is required before using the sensor readings for important agricultural decisions.
- The stated accuracy is ±2% F.S. under the specified conditions; actual results may vary depending on soil composition and installation conditions.
- Do not force the probe into extremely hard or rocky soil, as excessive mechanical force may damage it.
- Protect cable and electrical connections from unnecessary mechanical stress and exposure.
- Operating conditions should remain within the specified temperature and humidity ranges.
- Please allow approximately 5% physical measurement variation due to manual measurement and packaging.
